1. Who we are

SaatVachan is a matrimonial platform operated by [TO BE COMPLETED — legal entity name, address and contact email]. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data — name, gender, date of birth, email address, mobile number, city, and who manages the profile.
  • Profile data — details you choose to add, such as education, profession, religion, community, mother tongue and your introduction.
  • Preferences — privacy and notification settings you choose.
  • Technical data — IP address and browser type, recorded in security logs to prevent abuse.

3. How we use your data

  • To operate your account and keep it secure (verification emails, password resets, security alerts).
  • To present your profile and help you discover compatible matches.
  • To send service notifications and, with your consent, occasional product updates.
  • To detect, prevent and investigate misuse of the platform.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for unrelated advertising.

4. Sharing

Your phone number and email address are never shown to other members. Other profile details are shown according to the visibility settings you control. Data may be shared only with service providers strictly necessary to run the platform (for example, payment and email providers in future phases), or where required by law.

5. Security

Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes. We use prepared statements against database injection, CSRF protection on all forms, session security controls, and rate limiting on sensitive actions. No system is perfect, but we treat your data with the care a marriage platform deserves.

6. Your rights

  • Access and review your data at any time from your dashboard.
  • Correct your details from Settings.
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential emails from Settings.
  • Request permanent deletion of your account and personal data from Settings — deletion requests are actioned after a review period to prevent fraud and abuse.

7. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After a deletion request is completed, personal data is removed from our active systems, except where retention is required by law (for example, transaction records in future phases).
